One could very easily argue that green has been the color of the season since ecological interests and production practices have found themselves in roughly every major fashion conglomerate. New production methods, fabrics, dye options and even trade opportunities are several of the ways that designers have made eco-style a desired pursuit.
In the automotive market a new air-powered vehicle has been getting a great deal of attention for design and engineering achievement. The AirPod, the white car featured in the first two photos of the gallery, is a three-seater that runs on--get this--compressed air. The system has been licensed by Tata Motors and will roll out in India and Europe in 2009; US buyers will have to wait until at least 2010.
The range, as expected, is quite limited. The AirPod gets up to about 40 mph, and goes approximately 130 miles between charges.Once the tank is depleted, refilling it is described as "extremely quick" if you happen to have a specialized compressed air filling station handy. Otherwise, you'll have to fill up using a traditional home air compressor (think: filling your bicycle tires)
