Madonna and Other Old Bags: Part 2

Since my last post, a few new images have surfaced from Madonna's Louis Vuitton photo shoot. Intentional or otherwise, her blatantly suggestive poses, empty gaze, fishnets and the bistro setting creates the impression she's playing an aging Parisian hooker.. with incredibly expensive clothing and accessories.  More images after the jump, click to enlarge.

Debbie Harry Is Working Late

Debbie Harry seems to have taken a page from the Madonna's styling guide: "I'm Still Sexy.. I PROMISE". I don't have anything against women aging. I love Madonna, Debbie Harry, and Tina Turner along with a collection of maturing female singers. This isn't misogyny.

It's possible for a woman to appear sexy, confident, and completely radiant without looking like an anemic streetwalker. I'm not saying Debbie has to make a complete transition to donning ugly holiday sweaters and mom jeans. It's just that ladies should be aware (I'm looking at you too Cher!) that tramping out in a fire engine red micro mini, matchin fishnets and a set of patent thigh-high spikes actually makes one appear older. Leave the trampy outfits of yesteryear behind. Their spirit lives on forever in memories... and the performances of lip synching drag queens.

It was Marc Jacobs who came up with the grand idea of tarting Madonna up for Louis Vuitton's latest ad campaign. While in a brainstorming meeting he inquired via BlackBerry if the pop icon could be persuaded to become the latest face of the fashion house. Turns out Madge was open for bidness.

Shot by Steven Meisel, the ads are supposed to tell a story. What's the narrative you ask? Um.. I'd say an aging diva does her best to show the kids that she's can still look as cheap and trampy as pop-tarts half her age. Yoga makes you flexible!  The story of a contortionist who's trapped in a Paris bistro, and can't get the attention of the waiter? The location is Figaro, in LA on Vermont. (Click images to enlarge)

Rihanna's Tattooed Heart

Having mentioned them months ago, the ads have finally arrived. For the Tattoo Heart Collection,  Gucci will be donating a portion of their proceeds to UNICEF. The Italian fashion house got Rihanna to star in their dialogue free spots and launched the campaign with an exclusive dinner attended by among others Madonna.

Madonna's Killer Heels

Pop Diva Madonna sported Chanel Resort's Killer Heels by Karl Lagerfeld that I shared with you sometime ago. The clever footwear, with a wink and a nod display Bond Girl chic. Of course, because Madonna is famous people have decided to read far too much into her footwear and they have incited some kind of absurd controversy. Click image to enlarge

Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Beginings

   
I love Madonna. However,part of me hoped she would dump Guy Ritchie and stick with Alex Rodriguez if only for the pure enjoyment that their "Brangelina"/"Bennifer" name would bring as "Onna-Rod".

The material girl kicked off her Sticky & Sweet Tour last week and it looks like there were very minor adjustments from the original proposed sketches to the final designs. Those sorts of changes are to be expected. The looks appear to be athletic, asian, and vaudeville inspired, monochromatic ensembles that play on layering and texture. Of course that is until she has no more gear to shed. I'm a gay guy, so I'm basically required to adore the chanteuse. However, I have to say at 50 it seems a bit odd for her to be strumming a guitar half naked, or getting her ass spanked in front of thousands of people. I'm not saying she doesn't look amazing, cause clearly she does. It just makes me uncomfortable (Especially like when it looks like she is getting finger-b*nged while in the car in that last pic ).
