One of the more unusual and delicious gifts I received this past holiday season came from Valerie Confections a LA Based Chocolatier. Although I wasn't remotely familiar with their products I have to admit I am now serious devotee. The pieces that I received in particular were the  MORI EX CACAO Chocolate set. A trio of stunning skulls that were as delicious to open and see as they were to eat. A collaboration with  the DL & Company the items are as gorgeous as their candles, dishes, and eccoutrements that I am familiar with. You Smell Good Enough To....

Burger King has decided to expand their offerings and diversify their products. This week they launched a men's fragrance is the "essence" of a Whopper hamburger. Not a scent for everyone, FLAME by BK  captures "the scent of seduction with a hint of flame-broiled meat". This is more than likely a novelty-based promotion intended to get the fast food giant a little additional press and simultaneously endear itself to consumers. The campaign will be celebrated for it's irreverance and be huge hit with marketers (not necessarily the vegetarian ones). What Would Freud Think?

A new bar named “La Cave des Fondus” in Noho NYC is serving wine and beer in baby bottles. Suck on that onekids. Baby Bottles. Can someone explain this one to me? Is this another El Bano? I enjoy baby play (Woops I messed my diaper! Boner!) but this is a just lame. I'm told it's supposed to be an homage to "Le Refuge Des Fondus" in Paris" where bottle drinking is also practiced.

Rococo Rendezvous

My favorite Cosplay and contemporary art cafe, Royal/T is getting together with styleblog Zippercut for a fashion event that is not to be missed. A Masquerade Fantastique that draws inspiration from the 2004 Japanese film "Kamikaze Girls" where the divine luxuries of 18th century France are caught up in the childlike mind of a Japanese teenager.  Held on December 4th 2008 at Royal/T, Rococo Rendezvous will be a fanciful night filled with Gothic Lolitas and Royal/T's own Japanese Maids. Treated Like Royal/T

ROYAL/T is a playful collision of spaces- café/shop/art space - presented in stunning fusion and the areas  first Japanese inspired Maid Café. Located in Culver City, California, an LA area that has emerged as a new arts district with galleries, theater spaces, and indie retailers. Takaya Goto and Lesley Chi of Goto Design in New York, were approached by art collector Susan Hancock to envision a space for exhibiting her contemporary art collection. Hancock's collection is an encyclopedic collection of contemporary artists among them Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Louise Bourgeois, Cecily Brown, Tracy Emin, Tom Freidman, Chris Ofili, and Lisa Yuskavage among others. Inspired by the Meido Kissa (Maid Café) phenomena of Akihabara, (Tokyo’s electronic district) they came up with a 10,000 square foot concept art space/store/cafe that brings a part of Japanese culture to the City of Angels.
