For several years, I managed publicity and runway show production in New York City. The clients ranged from the most staid and mainstream labels to absurdly esoteric design collectives. In working for either client, my least favorite part of the process was assembling the look books and bits of printed ephemera that ramp up to a line's eventual debut. Every now and again the designer's statement provided valuable context for the designer's collection. More often than not, you're assaulted with a cringe worthy pile of crap so immense that you begin to consider the value of learning how to operate a bulldozer.
"Diwon is couture, edgy, luxurious and opinionated. Words alone should never be enough when describing Diwon. We convey a feeling, a presence so strong and yet so ephemeral. It’s the aura that emanates from our decadent pieces that defines the Diwon Man."
A couple of weeks ago, I was sent along information regarding a the launch of the new menswear line Diwon. This vague and modest description above is pretty bold for a group that just got in the game. However, I must admit I really love these looks. Nothing too crazy, a skillful attention to cut and detail. The silhouette and the palette both remind me of Hedi Slimane's early collections for Dior Homme.
