When the two publications are compared, I actually prefer ELLE DECOR versus their ladies style bible. Their interiors appear to be places where that people actually live in and consider their homes. The eclectically furnished residences pull together objects from myriad of regions and periods in a way that is attractive and interesting. Architectural Digest would seem on the surface to make a similar attempt, but somehow it always just appears that the only thing pulling the rooms together thematically is that everything in sight is absurdly expensive.
You'll catch me this weekend at the first annual ELLE DECOR Presents Legends of La Cienega Design Walk, May 8 and May 9th. There will be offers book signings and lectures by L.A.-based decor tastemakers such as Billy Haines, Gerard Colcord, and Tony Duquette. I'm aespecially excited for the festivities with my friend Trina Turk. More information available online HERE
