Models Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell renew old feud and engage in fisticuffs for the Spring 09 advertising campaign for DSquared. Captured by Steven Meisel, the ad sure to be talked about in the fashion community and instantly iconic.
The absolute worst red carpet appearance I caught at the Palm Springs International Film Festival this week goes to Mira Sorvino. Her dress was pretty unflattering and moreover it just looked like a dirty nightgown. Then you throw on a silver wrap that looks like a holiday packaging after thought that is completely disconnected to the Trashy Lingerie look shes pushing so hard. Don't even get me started on the hair.
One of the more unusual and delicious gifts I received this past holiday season came from Valerie Confections a LA Based Chocolatier. Although I wasn't remotely familiar with their products I have to admit I am now serious devotee. The pieces that I received in particular were the MORI EX CACAO Chocolate set. A trio of stunning skulls that were as delicious to open and see as they were to eat. A collaboration with the DL & Company the items are as gorgeous as their candles, dishes, and eccoutrements that I am familiar with. The gift set includes 3 flavors: Scorched Caramel, Bitter Brandied Cherry, and Curious Chili. Pick Yours up from their store or website today!.
Having knocked out more than a few successfully accessories and jewelry designs it looks like the mysterious folks behind Alex & Chloe are now tackling apparel. The line of T shirts play along with the same Bauhaus sensibilities. I just received this Paris Bleed T above a few weeks ago and have already received quite a few compliments. Check out all of the designs online HERE.
This week I attended the awards gala for the Palm Springs International Film Festival where many a celebrity walked the red carpet. One of my least favorites had to be Amy Adams. Adams has lovely skin and is for the most part a beautiful girl who typically looks pretty snooze worthy. She's never in anything particularly interesting or especially bad but at the same time in that merit she is often wearing items that don't do her figure or skin tone justice. This who ensemble is a perfect example. Not only does the tie look out of place and awkward on her (seriously, could have been fixed very easily by covering the closure with an interesting brooch) but the whole thing makes her look pale, bloated and lumpy. Now I think she is just a stunning beauty so I find it such a shame that things had to go down the way they did. Her clown-like make-up isn't helping the situation any either. Additionally.. this is a season of stunning heels when her shoes are a serious bore. Ultimately there isn't anything remarkable about this ensemble that screams "I am a super star!" and gives you the sort of drama or sparkle that it takes to really own a red carpet... and I really, REALLY hate her eye makeup.
Everyone has been excited about Jean Paul Lespagnard since he swept up three awards at the Festival d' Hyeres, an annual showcase of photography and design. His Ronald McDonald Disco Dollie and Rocky Meets Rocky Mountain Couture has been embraced by the European fashion media and avante performers like Yelle. I would seriously love to pick his brain. Dita Von Teese will be returning to the Crazy Horse in Paris (during Fashion Week no less) to perform. They sent around this save the date today. Dita's shows are sexy and fun without being even a bit raunchy in a bump and grind way. Dita is the Diva of burlesque.
