Have you ever looked up "used" garments on Ebay? No, I don't mean the items that are a part of an online yard sale. I'm referring to the pages where a chick in a sports bra or a muscly frat boy poses in a jock strap offering their goods (unwashed) to the highest fetishist bidder. Some of the items; panties, socks, and lingerie fetch top dollar.
This past week, a Toronto woman bought a pair of Queen Victoria's 50-inch waist panties. Considerably older and attributed to having been worn by a historical figure, they were snapped up for almost $9,000. See the other boys and girls off Ebay top that! Barbara Rusch of Toronto has collected Queen Victoria memorabilia of all kinds for about 25 years, but has never been able to bid on a pair of her bloomers before.
"This is a wonderful, wonderful find for me today and a great acquisition, a great treasure to add to my collection. They are monogrammed and crested and we know that they are hers."
The handmade knickers, dating back to the 1890s, bear the monogram "VR" for Victoria Regina. They are open-crotch style, with separate legs joined by a drawstring at the waist -- popular in the late Victorian era. The knickers far exceeded their closing estimate of $1000.
