Always stylish, Michelle Obama wore a dress designed by Thakoon Panichgul on Thursday night as her hubby, Sen. Barack Obama accepted his nomination in Denver. The floral Radzimir kimono dress, part of Thakoon's pre-spring 2009 collection, once again signals Michelle Obama has no qualms about breaking with presidential tradition, opting to wear a dress by a young New York designer to her husband's most important speech so far.
It's been a rough week. I certainly feel like I've been knocked across the head and I'm seeing stars. Jerry Ford, who founded Ford Modeling Agency with his wife, Eileen, in 1946 (!), died Sunday of complications from endocarditis, or inflammation of the heart. They were credited with turning modeling into a true profession. Ford Models, was one of the leading agencies in the seventies and eighties that legitimized the industry and gained recognition for discovering Lauren Hutton, Christie Brinkley, Rachel Hunter, and Vendela. Additionally, several of the agencies faces have since broken out to have careers in television, film and music, the agency represented Lindsay Lohan and Mischa Barton, Ashley Tisdale, Courteney Cox, and Ali Larter among others.
I love Madonna. However,part of me hoped she would dump Guy Ritchie and stick with Alex Rodriguez if only for the pure enjoyment that their "Brangelina"/"Bennifer" name would bring as "Onna-Rod".
The material girl kicked off her Sticky & Sweet Tour last week and it looks like there were very minor adjustments from the original proposed sketches to the final designs. Those sorts of changes are to be expected. The looks appear to be athletic, asian, and vaudeville inspired, monochromatic ensembles that play on layering and texture. Of course that is until she has no more gear to shed. I'm a gay guy, so I'm basically required to adore the chanteuse. However, I have to say at 50 it seems a bit odd for her to be strumming a guitar half naked, or getting her ass spanked in front of thousands of people. I'm not saying she doesn't look amazing, cause clearly she does. It just makes me uncomfortable (Especially like when it looks like she is getting finger-b*nged while in the car in that last pic ).

Dita Von Teese is a stunning woman famous for her romance with Marilyn Manson and a stunner in her burlesque performances. Her work is more Mae West or Betty Page, than ditzy Playboy Playmate (Although she has in fact appeared in the manly mag). Teese now has her own limited edition lingerie line from Wonderbra, a partnership that frankly should have been imagined eons ago. Nonetheless, at 36 years old, Dita just keeps getting better. She was excited to create "Wonderbra by Dita Von Teese Collection" as an inspiration to women the line includes garter belts, panties and bras inspired by old Hollywood glamour. Teese explained,
"Lingerie should not be something you just put on for your lover; you should do it for you. It''s not about seducing men, it''s about embracing womanhood"

Paris Hilton is the celebutard version of abortion. No use in trying to change anyone's mind. You feel one way or the other about her and that's all there is to it. I've got to admit, the girl can keep a schedule. She's whoring herself out non-stop on the international fameball tour.
Here we see Paris out in Malibu, hawking a cheap headband of hair extensions. I know, I know, and here you were assuming she was out receiving a Peabody Award for her contribution to the field of journalism. Considering how often she's talked about, there's a pretty fair case for her getting some kind of recognition.
At this point she is a complete caricature of herself. Look at this chick. She arrived at a beach in heels, wearing cheap hair, carrying a can of her own brand of champagne, and in some bat shit crazy hooker/figure-skater/gymnast ensemble... that has her name spelled out in sequins. That's it honey. I can no longer defend you. Toss her to the blogging wolves. Look at all those people around her just sneering. I'll tell anyone who will listen what a genius I think John Galliano is. Unlike many people, I even liked his crazy tinsel explosion of Spring/Summer 03.
When I spotted this shirt I knew it had to be mine. I realize it may be a little pricey, but the clever design of the "Galliano Gazette" T is pretty versatile. It looks right when worn out with jeans or with a suit. The tabloid design features the direct dial to the company publicity office as well as a faux advice column where the designer offers cheeky fashion advice to readers in French. The partnership between IMG and Smashbox Studios may end after presentations this October. If IMG, the New York-based management company that runs Fashion Weeks worldwide, doesn’t return next year, it will leave ownership
of L.A. Fashion Week up for grabs.
A potential replacement, IDG World Expo, a trade show company, will bring “REVEAL Los Angeles…The Fashion & Design Event” to the new L.A. Live (among other downtown venues) March 20-22. They plan to mix runway presentations with a trade show, emphasizing sportswear and the business side of the industry rather than celebrity attendance or high-fashion design. BoxEIGHT has also thrown it's hat into the ring. In it's fourth year of exisistence, last week the group celebrated the expansion of their facility.
The first online purchase I ever made was in 1996 at Fabric 8, a collective of independent artists and designers based in San Francisco. When I returned to SF after living in NYC for several years I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had moved about 3 blocks from their brick-and-mortar location. After making a number of purchases over the years, I was pleased to find that they had maintained their earnest and funky roots in an appropriately unique space. Upon entering the cozy and colorful spot I was always greeted by Olivia Ongpin, standing at a repurposed BBQ. She would chat for a few minutes and pet my dog while I peeked around the shop. This was a weekly ritual for me.
I love this place, not just for it's mission or immense display of talent, but everything is dirt cheap. I've bought original pieces of artwork for less than $50 bucks. Once I even commissioned a painting for a friends wedding present by renowned artist Sirron Norris for only $300.This was one of my favorite places to find unique birthday presents or Thank You gifts for clients.
